Head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, Rulani Mokwena, has listed Nigeria among the favourites to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
According to Mokwena, the Super Eagles have multiple great players, noting that they are never pushovers in the tournament.
He also highlighted Morocco, Egypt, Ghana and Senegal as additional sides that can challenge for the AFCON crown.
“Nigeria will always be favourites because they have several top players and are never pushovers when it comes to the tournament,” Mokwena told Sundowns’ website.
According to him: “Morocco is another team I believe will do well because they have a great coach, a great squad and we saw their exploits at the last World Cup. Egypt can also be regarded a strong threat in the competition, since they have the pedigree and know-how to win the crown. I also tip Ghana and Senegal to be major challengers and I think Ivory Coast will also make it to the last 8.”
