On Wednesday afternoon, the Florida Gators received a significant commitment from an instate recruit in the 2024 class.
A day after being freed from his NLI at Texas, defensive lineman D’Antre Robinson (6-4, 314 Orlando, FL. Jones) committed to Florida.
After Bo Davis, the defensive line coach at Texas, transferred to LSU, Robinson, an Orlando native, asked to leave NLI and did not show up in Austin for the start of school.
The defensive lineman will enroll early in Gainesville and go through spring ball with the Gators which would provide the staff with a big addition on the line.
When Robinson visited Gainesville this fall, the staff explained to him that he would play all over the line when he gets on campus.
“They want to use me all over the defensive line,” he said on where Florida wants him at. “They feel like I can do stunts and be a first, second, and third down player. That’s what they really like me.”
Robinson is a big addition for the Gators because of his versatility on the line and should figure into the rotation for the 2024 football season.
5-star expected to visit Florida this weekend
The Florida Gators are set for their second Junior Day of the year this coming weekend. Several names have already been expected to make their way to Gainesville, and Swamp247 has been keeping track of the names expected in town. You can track that list HERE. Another name expected to be in town this weekend is Savannah (GA) Christian Prep five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin, the No. 3 ranked prospect in the class of 2025.
This will be the Gators first chance to get Griffin on campus if he makes it in as expected. He’s had times in the past where he’s planned to get to The Swamp, but those plans eventually fell through. It’s been a group effort to get the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder down to Gainesville between new defensive line coach Gerald Chatman and assistant defensive line coach Kali James. The two have been in contact with Griffin a lot as of late, and their persistence has them in line to get some time around the talented defender.
