The Athletic’s NBA insider Anthony Slater reports that the Golden State Warriors will not make a deal for Dejounte Murray, a top player for the Atlanta Hawks.
Murray’s trade by the Hawks before the trade deadline on February 8 is generally anticipated. The Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, and Detroit Pistons have all been connected to the All-Star.
According to Slater, who covers the Warriors, Golden State is only somewhat interested in signing Murray.
Before a recent Hawks game, Slater writes, “Mike Dunleavy Jr. spent a chunk of time chatting with Atlanta general manager Landry Fields.” However, there won’t be any movement because of the tepid at best interest in Dejounte Murray, the top player on The Athletic’s trade deadline big board. Another guard, he’s set to start a four-year, $114 million contract.
Murray is shooting 47.2% from the field, 38.3% from three, and 83.2% from the foul line while averaging 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.3 blocks for the Hawks this season. His salary is $17.7 million.

The Warriors have a 20–24 record. Despite Stephen Curry scoring 27.5 points per game on average, they are ranked 12th in the Western Conference. Golden State wouldn’t even be in the NBA play-in round if the season ended today.
The majority of NBA insiders anticipate that the Lakers will sign Murray since the Washington product shares Klutch Sports’ Rich Paul as an agent, along with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. It will be interesting to see Murray’s landing spot and any action the Warriors take.
