The Milwaukee Brewers started the offseason with three star players in their final year of team control. Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Willy Adames were the names of the players. After non-tendering Woodruff in November and moving Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles, it appears like GM Matt Arnold has placed Adames on the trading block.
Willy Adames has been made available through trade by the Milwaukee Brewers.
In a notebook, Bob Nightengale writes, “The Milwaukee Brewers are letting teams know that shortstop Willy Adames is available now.” Matt Arnold also commented on the Burnes deal, stating that he was “more open” to trading Adames.
“These transactions can come together fast or slowly. I’m definitely open to additional chats. I certainly wouldn’t shut any conversations down at this point in the offseason.”
Who would play shortstop if Willy Adames was traded?
It is widely expected that Adames will be dealt at some time by the Brewers. If and when that happens, Milwaukee has a couple solid defensive options who could step in. Brice Turang and Joey Ortiz are both superb defenders, but they still have much to prove in terms of their offensive impact at the major league level.
What kind of return would the Brewers get for Willy Adames?
Adames plays a great position, is one of the best power hitting shortstops in the league, and is dependable on the field. Even though he is only controlled through the 2024 season, a similar return to the Burnes deal package is not out of the question.
