Having most recently managed the Brisbane Lions AFLW midfield group for the last two seasons, which culminated in an AFLW premiership just three months ago, Webster brings a plethora of expertise and experience to the top post.
The highly regarded leader has over ten years of NEAFL and State League coaching experience in addition to coaching the Brisbane Lions Academy and Queensland State Academies.
After a protracted search, Hawthorn General Manager of Football Operations Max Bailey stated the team was thrilled to announce Webster as its new AFLW Senior Coach.
“We are thrilled to welcome Daniel to the Hawthorn family,” Bailey said.
“Following an incredibly thorough and rigorous process, Daniel emerged as the clear choice from a very competitive field of candidates.
“Along with most recently overseeing arguably the best midfield group in the AFLW, what also impressed us about Daniel was his exceptional tactical knowledge and understanding of the game, his ability to foster strong relationships with his players and his strong communication skills.
“With more than a decade of coaching experience, we are extremely confident that Daniel is the right person to drive us into the future as we build on the foundations set in our first two years in the AFLW.”
Hawthorn President Andy Gowers also welcomed Webster to the brown and gold family.
“On behalf of the Hawthorn Football Club, it gives me enormous pleasure to welcome Daniel Webster to the club as our AFLW Senior Coach,” Gowers said.
“Daniel is not only an outstanding coach and leader, but more importantly, he is a fantastic person who embodies Hawthorn’s values.

“With high performance and further development a key focus in our program, Daniel is the perfect person to take our AFLW squad forward in 2024 as we aim to deliver more consistent performances on the field.”
Webster said he was proud to embark on his new opportunity with the Hawks.
“I am incredibly honoured and humbled to be named as Hawthorn’s next AFLW Senior Coach,” Webster said.
“From afar Hawthorn has always been a club I’ve admired greatly, and I am now privileged to be part of the brown and gold family.
“I feel very grateful to be trusted with the responsibility of driving elite standards, competitive behaviour and getting the best out of an immensely talented AFLW playing group that has shown great promise.
“I’m excited to get to know all of the players, coaches, and staff and start working towards our goal of becoming a Hawthorn team that our members and supporters can be proud of,” the coach said.
