Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver Jordan Watkins appears to have sustained a hand injury during practice on Wednesday, according to The Grove Report. Watkins is now the team’s leading receiver, with 536 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions in six games.
According to individuals familiar with the matter, Watkins was “seems that way” wounded at practice, but the seriousness of the ailment is unknown.
Watkins is a Louisville, Ky. native who played for the Louisville Cardinals before joining the Ole Miss squad prior to the 2022 season. Since coming to Oxford, he has 985 receiving yards and four touchdowns. This season, he was named to the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List and was Ole Miss’ leading returning receiver.

In 2023, Watkins has surpassed the century mark in receiving yards three times: against Mercer (111), Georgia Tech (119), and LSU. These are also the Rebels’ top three games in terms of points scored this season.
This autumn, the Rebels have been plagued by receiver injuries, with outstanding transfer Tre Harris sidelined multiple times. Harris was injured during Ole Miss’ final game against the Arkansas Razorbacks and did not return.
If Watkins is seriously injured, it will be a huge setback to Ole Miss’ offense, which has battled to find a rhythm at times this season. The Rebels will return to the field next Saturday, with or without Watkins, to face the Auburn Tigers at 6 p.m. CT, live on ESPN.
