Four former Florida players are on Kansas City’s active roster for Super Bowl LVIII, with a fifth on the team’s practice squad.Five former Gators will line the sidelines and/or play in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, making it Florida’s 22nd consecutive appearance in the NFL Championship Game, the third-longest streak among college football programs.
Each Florida alumna will align with Kansas City: Offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, punter Tommy Townsend, wide receiver Kadarius Toney and running back La’Mical Perine.Trey Dean III, a former Gators safety, is also on the Chiefs’ practice squad, however he was not added to the team’s active roster for the game.

Taylor, a second-round choice by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2018 NFL Draft, took advantage of free agency this summer, signing a four-year, $80 million contract with Kansas City to become the Chiefs’ primary right tackle. He started every game for Kansas City in 2023, providing key protection for three-time All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes and paving the way for running back Isiah Pacheco, who was the Chiefs’ most productive single-season rusher since Kareem Hunt in 2018.
Despite being an undrafted free agent, Townsend signed with Kansas City to become the team’s regular punter after the 2020 NFL Draft, replacing 15-year Chief Dustin Colquitt. Since then, Townsend has averaged 47.4 yards per punt, including a single-season career best of 50.4 yards per punt in 2022, which garnered him All-Pro and Pro Bowl distinction.
