Jaxson Dart, the quarterback at Ole Miss, has the best Heisman chances going into the 2024 season. Pro Football Focus currently ranks him as the sixth-best quarterback in the country.
Earlier this week, PFF released their rankings for the top 10 college football quarterbacks. This is how the list was ordered. 1. Georgia’s Carson Beck, 2. Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel 3. Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart, West Virginia’s Garrett Greene, Penn State’s Drew Allar, Arizona’s Noah Fifita, and Missouri’s Brady Cook round out the field.
According to Pro Football Focus, “Dart took a major leap from his sophomore to junior year, improving his PFF passing grade by more than 13 points (75.2 in 2022 to 88.7 in 2023).”
“Another season in Lane Kiffin’s scheme worked out beautifully for Jaxson Dart,” 247Sports said of the junior. “He stiff-armed early questions about the Rebels’ future at the position.” In addition to throwing for 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns, Dart reduced the number of passes he misdirected. With three touchdowns and 379 passing yards in Saturday’s Peach Bowl victory over Penn State, he saved his best effort for last. In addition to significant employee retention and transfer portal additions, his return in 2024 makes Ole Miss
Dart was described by the Rebels as a fighter inside. He persevered through the off-season and preseason rumours that he was going to lose his starting job at Ole Miss when transfer quarterback Spencer Sanders, with his impressive background from Oklahoma State, was brought in by head coach Lane Kiffin. Dart seemed a little upset about the whole thing at times during the preseason, but he never gave up on the starting position—instead, he consistently outperformed his main opponent. The ultimate outcome was Ole Miss’s first 11-win season and a credible Heisman candidate heading into the 2024 campaign.”
