Prior to recently signing with the Detroit Tigers, Keston Hiura, a former ninth overall choice of the Milwaukee Brewers, spent seven years with the team. During his time with the Brew Crew, he experienced several memorable experiences, such as hitting a walk-off home run against Craig Kimbrel and the Chicago Cubs in 2019 and the Pittsburgh Pirates in his final big league game.
In Detroit he will have to play his way onto the 40-man roster but there is a clearer path to big league playing time. He formerly struggled at second base and is best suited as a designated hitter, but his defense at first base and left field has improved over the last year.
After signing with the Detroit Tigers Keston Hiura posted a heartfelt goodbye to the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
It makes me think back on all the wonderful times and friendships I’ve formed during the nearly seven years since I became a Brewer. For this incredible trip, I would like to express my gratitude to the Milwaukee Brewers organisation, my teammates, coaches, staff, and most importantly, the community of Milwaukee.
I want everyone who helped me through all the highs and lows to know that their support was always appreciated. Though I sincerely hope that our time together might have ended differently, I always gave it my all and left it all on the pitch. Milwaukee will always hold a special place in my heart!
