The Green Bay Packers Add Key Piece To Defense Ahead Of The 2024 Season
According to sources, the Green Bay Packers want to employ Anthony Perkins from Oregon State as an assistant defensive backs coach.
Perkins, a former Colorado outstanding defensive back, earned eight all-conference honors while at Oregon State. Previously worked in the NFL with the Buccaneers as an assistant to the head coach in 2017 and 2018.
An interim defensive coordinator collaborated extensively with the defensive unit as Oregon State football prepared to meet Notre Dame in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl this season.
Trent Bray was elevated to head coach and Anthony Perkins to defensive coordinator after Jonathan Smith left to become head coach at Michigan State.
His grandfather, Don Perkins, was a great Dallas Cowboys running back and former University of New Mexico player. Don carried for 6,217 yards with the Cowboys between 1961 and 1968, earning multiple pro bowl honors.
This offseason, the Packers have continued to strengthen their pass defense. It is becoming evident that pass defense will be a priority this offseason. Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has already stated that safety is an extremely crucial position in the defense he prefers to run.
