Brandon Dixon, a former infielder who played for the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, and San Diego Padres, has announced his retirement at age 32.
The California native appeared in major league games for three different organizations over the course of five seasons. He played an important part for the Tigers in 2019, appearing in 117 games. He had a lifetime batting average of.224, 22 home runs, and 74 RBI. He hit 15 of his home runs in the 2019 season.
In 2023, he played in 33 games for the Padres and hit two home runs.
Dixon attended the University of Arizona and was taken in the third round by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2013. In 2015, he was involved in a major transaction that sent Frankie Montas from the White Sox to the Dodgers and Todd Frazier from the Reds to the White Sox.
There is no news on what Dixon will do next, but it is a tremendous accomplishment to have made the majors and spend portions of five years there.
