The Boston Celtics’ interest in Otto Porter Jr. began on February 8, when Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported him as one of their targets. Despite the fact that they did not catch him, they have not given up chasing him.
The Jazz now employ Porter Jr., but it is still feasible that they will buy him out. If they do, radio broadcaster John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 predicts that the Celtics will be interested in him. However, they are not alone.
“The Clippers are interested in Porter; the Celtics are interested, but the Suns are not.” Gambadoro explained.
While repeating their interest, Gambadoro warned that it could all go for naught because Porter Jr. may miss the remainder of the season.
“The Celtics and Clippers are interested in Otto Porter Jr., but he has not requested a buyout or waivers at this time. There is a chance he is finished playing for the season.”
Porter has battled to stay on the court over the last two seasons due to injuries. He’s played 23 games for the Raptors over the last two seasons. That followed a fairly healthy season with the Warriors, where he helped them win another championship.
Jazz Have Sent Otto Porter Jr. Home: Report
According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, the Jazz have sent Otto Porter Jr. home to think about his next move.
“Utah Jazz forward Otto Porter Jr. has returned home to evaluate his options for the remainder of the season and will not be with the team Thursday night when the Jazz open the second half of their schedule against the Charlotte Hornets,” Jones wrote in an article on February 21.
