Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers had probably the league’s worst quarterback room.
It’s difficult to imagine Kenny Pickett, Mitchell Trubisky, or Mason Rudolph starting somewhere else.
Pickett’s numbers were not outstanding, and he fell short of the excitement and positive praises that surrounded him in the preseason.
All indicators pointed to the Steelers being ready to move on from their first-round pick and chase an experienced quarterback, with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields being two potential alternatives.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler claims that they will not do it.
Apparently, they want Pickett to work under Arthur Smith, the new offensive coordinator.
To be honest, Pickett looked much better in the only full game he played without Matt Canada as offensive coordinator, and Canada’s work with the offense was far from impressive.
Smith has previously found success with struggling quarterbacks such as Ryan Tannehill, and one could argue that the Steelers’ offensive elements are similar to those of his former Tennessee Titans teams.
Even still, patience appears to be running out among the fan base, and another disappointing season might make life difficult for head coach Mike Tomlin.
