Manly’s victory against South Sydney in the NRL’s Las Vegas extravaganza became a little too much for one unhappy Sea Eagles fan.
The underdog Sea Eagles dominated on the field, defeating the Rabbitohs 36-24 at Allegiant Stadium.
However, as the phrase goes, it only takes one moron, or two in our case, to ruin a good time.
Details are fuzzy, but a series of brief videos on social media show a brawl breaking out in the stands, starting with a man in a Sea Eagles sweater stumbling on his feet, possibly under the effects of alcohol.
In one video, which lasts around 10 seconds, he is being held by another man who appears to be attempting to protect him, while a third man in a light grey shirt tries to deliver blows whenever possible.
The man with the NRL jersey appears to be an easy target, and as he is speaking to someone, the third man delivers a strong smack that rocked the poor fellow.
Before the video ends, a woman holds back the third guy, who points and yells at the Manly supporter.
Another post shows the Manly supporter being led away with blood all over his face and right hand.
It is unclear what prompted the confrontation or what happened to the man in the light grey shirt who threw the fists.
In the final footage, the Manly supporter is shown in a wheelchair being evaluated by medical staff, still clutching his Manly hat and scarf in his hand, with someone chanting “go!”
Not surprise, the incident sparked a variety of reactions on social media, with some focusing on the guy who appears to be the most sober and is throwing the blows.
“What a hero!” one Facebook user remarked sarcastically. “Dog shot a drunk bloke who pretty much has his arms pinned.”
“Good to showcase the NRL to the USA,” said another.
“Manly got a (win and a loss) in one night,” wrote another.
“Such a classy game and culture to be showcasing to the world,” he continued.
In the end, the NRL’s Las Vegas experiment garnered an attendance of 40,746, with the Roosters defeating the Broncos 20-10 in the second game.
