Perry-Wright attends Buford High School in Buford, Georgia, and is a five-star recruit for 2026. His offer list includes offers from some of the country’s best programs, including Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and others. During his visit to Alabama on Friday, he will have the opportunity to watch practice.
“It’s always a blessing, just knowing the culture and the past history they have,” Perry-Wright recently told Touchdown Alabama when discussing holding an offer from the Crimson Tide.
The Buford product previously expressed his thoughts on the Tide’s new head coach Kalen DeBoer.
“Their head coach just went to the championship, so he knows what he doing,” said Perry-Wright.
Buford reaped the benefits of Perry-Wright being a dominant defensive lineman as a sophomore. He displayed explosive power and strength while working in the trenches during the 2023 football season at 6-foot-3 and approximately 240 pounds.
How did DeBoer’s 1st Alabama practice go? ‘Excited to watch their own film now’
Alabama football practiced with new helmet communicators on Monday. As film review begins on Tuesday, the Tide will have the opportunity to do something it couldn’t do over the offseason with its new offensive and defensive schemes: UA players will now watch themselves on tape.
“When you bring in concepts, whether it’s offense, defense, or special teams, the coaching staff brings in your ideas, which usually include cut-ups from the programs you came from,” new head coach Kalen DeBoer stated at his first spring news conference.
That’s an understatement. The new lieutenants in Tuscaloosa come from all over the country: DeBoer’s former Washington assistants hold two on-field roles and key advisor positions; two former group of five head coaches from Alabama and Buffalo, respectively; a pair of late hires from Baylor to fill out a game of staffing musical chairs. DeBoer is managing personalities and expectations in a post-Nick Saban era while also implementing a new vision. And after day one, DeBoer now has a base to build off.
