When the Las Vegas Raiders selected AmikRobertson in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, there was a lot of excitement.
He was a darling among draft gurus because he was a tough-talking ballhawk at Louisiana Tech. Robertson had his ups and downs during his four seasons with the Raiders, but he did show promise at times and was a solid rotational player.
Robertson will now strive to improve as a member of the Detroit Lions. According to NFL Media, he intends to join with the Lions for a two-year contract.
He is the fourth Las Vegas free agent to sign elsewhere, following running back Josh Jacobs (Green Bay), lineman Jermaine Eluemunor (New York Giants), and defensive tackle Bilal Nichols (Arizona Cardinals). Depending on what the Raiders do in free agency (they’ve signed defensive tackle Christian Wilkins and quarterback Gardner Minshew so far), they might be in line for a 2025 compensatory pick.
With Robertson’s departure, the Raiders will have no players from their 2020 draft class remaining on the roster. The class consisted of two first-round picks and three third-round picks.
The Raiders were anticipated to hunt for cornerback help prior to Robertson’s departure, and they might add many players to the position in free agency and the draft. The Raiders presently have Jack Jones, Nate Hobbs, Jakorian Bennett, Brandon Facyson, Sam Webb, and Cornell Armstrong on their roster as cornerbacks.
