Following their appearance in the NFC Championship Game, the Detroit Lions are not resting on their laurels.
General manager Brad Holmes and company have added three new defensive starters. That included trading for cornerback Carlton Davis from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier in March.
Detroit has also signed edge rusher Marcus Davenport and defensive tackle D.J. Reader during NFL free agency.
The Lions are now focusing on the offensive side of the ball, giving Jared Goff greater protection up front.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions have signed Pro Bowl guard Kevin Zeitler from the Baltimore Ravens in free agency.
This move comes after Detroit lost starting guard Jonah Jackson to the Los Angeles Rams on a large contract earlier in free agency.
Zeitler, 34, was the Cincinnati Bengals’ original first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft from Wisconsin. The guard played his first five seasons in Cincinnati before signing with the Cleveland Browns. He has also played for the New York Giants, as well as the Baltimore Ravens for the past three seasons.
