The New England Patriots are looking for a new left tackle as they remodel their offensive line.
That need was heightened after Trent Brown sealed his exit by signing a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals to remain in the AFC. With the tackle market already diminishing, remaining players may see their worth increase with potential suitors like as the Patriots.
According to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com, offensive tackle Josh Jones is now the best remaining fit at the position of need.
“Left tackle is Jones’ best position, but with Laremy Tunsil locked in at that spot in Houston, Jones saw limited snaps last year,” Rosenthal shared. “Jones is a terrific high-ceiling target for a team looking for options.”
The Patriots would undoubtedly fall into that category. Mike Onwenu, a returning starter, will be ready to go at right tackle. On the other hand, the Patriots can add another draft rival to Chukwuma Okorafor, who recently signed with the team.
With the new roster structure, the Patriots will have a very different appearance in terms of protecting the franchise quarterback.
