Kalen DeBoer and Alabama have had a weird week, which began on Tuesday night when former freshman starting lineman Kadyn Proctor, who moved to Iowa this summer, reentered the gate and elected to return to Alabama after spending two months on Iowa’s campus.
Alabama Landed Two Great Linebackers Back-To-Back Days
DeBoer didn’t just stop with bringing Proctor back. On Wednesday, he landed Darrell “Duke” Johnson, one of the best linebackers in the 2025 class, and on Thursday, another linebacker said he would be joining the Crimson Tide in 2025.
On3.com’s Hayes Fawcett reports, “Four-Star LB Abduall Sanders Jr. has Committed to Alabama.”
“The 6’1 225 LB that attends Mater Dei HS chose the Crimson Tide over Ohio State & Tennessee.”
Kalen DeBoer Is Still Loading His Defense
When you think of previous Crimson Tide football teams under Nick Saban, you think of excellent defense, and the linebacker position was one of his team’s strongest. Alabama has always had excellent linebackers under Saban, and there was a risk this would change when DeBoer took over.
DeBoer is one of college football’s best offensive thinkers, and the offense would undoubtedly be a top priority in terms of recruitment. Still, DeBoer has done an excellent job making defense a priority, and Alabama is not missing a beat.
When Sanders and Johnson enter the linebacker room in 2025, the Crimson Tide will have a formidable defense, and they may even play as true freshmen.
