The Green Bay Packers enjoyed a decent season in 2023, but were unable to win the NFC North. The Detroit Lions won the NFC North division title for the first time. The Detroit Lions were effective on both sides of the ball and could win games in crunch time. Their pass defense was not their strongest point, ranking in the bottom five for pass yards allowed.
Their defense is slated to change with the signings of Carlton Davis and Amik Robertson, and their cornerback room is expected to undergo significant changes. Cam Sutton was the team’s top cornerback on the depth chart in 2023. Cam Sutton is no longer on the Detroit Lions’ roster after the team removed him today due to serious criminal allegations.
Green Bay Packers RIval Detroit Lions Release CB Cam Sutton
Cameron Sutton was a former NFL cornerback selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Hillsborough Police Department in Tampa, Florida, has issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of domestic violence/aggravated battery.
Cameron Sutton was accused of strangling his significant other and throwing her off a third-story balcony. While these claims have not been substantiated and the investigation is still underway, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office changed their charge to better reflect the allegation.
With the criminal allegations so great and an inability to contact Cameron Sutton, the Detroit Lions decided to release Cam Sutton.
The release of Cam Sutton will affect their roster decisions from now on, not only with the depth chart but also with his dead cap space.
