After transferring to rival Ole Miss, defensive end Princely Umanmielen determined to throw a fire under the whole Florida Gators team, doing so with brutal honesty.
Coming out of college in the Class of 2020 as a four-star recruit, Umanmielen received 27 offers before committing to the University of Florida. Dan Mullen was the head coach for the first two seasons, and Billy Napier will take over in 2022.
In his final two seasons with the Gators, the 6-foot-5, 255-pound Umanmielen recorded 39 tackles and 11.5 total sacks, offering a regular threat to rival SEC offenses.
Umanmielen, like many other athletes during the COVID-19 pandemic, received a blanket waiver, allowing him to remain eligible for another year. Entering the transfer portal as a graduate, he ended up at Ole Miss for his final season.
If everything comes together, the Rebels should have a successful season, possibly even making the national championship game. And, as you may expect, Umanmielen will play an important role in the upcoming season.
Not happening. They’ll be lucky if they make it to the bowl game.
Umanmielen had the opportunity to speak about the Gators program during a news conference on Tuesday, and he did so. He implied that Florida had poor game strategy and player development, but what player development?
