An open letter from Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner to MAFs couples fans…
We wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude and share our thoughts with all of you who have followed our journey on Married at First Sight. From the first moment we met on that unforgettable wedding day, to the ups and downs we’ve faced together and as individuals, we’ve experienced so much, and much of it has been shaped by your support, feedback, and love.
We know that many of you followed our story closely from the beginning and have been there for every twist, turn, and challenge. For that, we are genuinely grateful. When we first stepped onto the MAFS stage, we were unsure of what to expect, both as individuals and as a couple. We entered this experiment to find real love and to explore whether marriage could work for us, even in such an unconventional setting. Along the way, we’ve been vulnerable, open, and honest with each other — and with you, our incredible viewers.
Over the years, we’ve come to realize that MAFS isn’t just about finding love on TV. It’s about relationships — all relationships, not just those that form on the show. It’s about the connections we make, the challenges we overcome, and the way we navigate the ups and downs of life, just like all of you. We’ve learned from each other, grown together, and supported each other through both the good times and the tough moments.
We know that our story hasn’t always been smooth sailing. No relationship is perfect, and the journey isn’t always easy. There have been moments where things felt hard and when we questioned whether we could make it. But one thing that has remained constant is our commitment to working through the difficulties together. We want to remind everyone that what you see on TV is just a snapshot of our lives. There are many layers and nuances that go beyond the editing and the challenges we face on camera. We appreciate your patience as we’ve navigated our story — and we want to assure you that despite the struggles, we’ve always stayed committed to each other and to continuing to build a foundation of love, respect, and trust.
As we’ve moved forward from MAFS, we’ve been fortunate to continue our journey together as a married couple. Our relationship has grown stronger, and we’ve been blessed to share this part of our lives with all of you. What we’ve come to realize is that the connection we’ve made with you, the fans, has been a vital part of our experience. Your love, support, and sometimes even your constructive criticism have helped us grow as people and as a couple. We’ve appreciated the way you’ve been with us every step of the way — through the triumphs, the challenges, and the evolution of our story.
The road hasn’t always been easy, but with your encouragement, we’ve had the strength to keep moving forward, even when things seemed impossible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being there for us and for all of the MAFS couples. You’ve made this journey that much more meaningful.
To all the current and future MAFS couples out there: we want to remind you that no matter what happens, you’re not alone. You have a community behind you, one that understands the complexities of love, marriage, and relationships in all their forms. Remember to be kind to yourselves and each other, take time to reflect and grow, and always approach each challenge with the same determination that got you this far.
And finally, we want to say thank you again to all of you who’ve supported us from the very beginning. Your love means more to us than words can express. We’ve had our share of difficult moments, but we’ve also had so many incredible memories along the way. We look forward to continuing this journey together, and we’re excited to see what the future holds — for us and for all the MAFS couples out there.
