After being too ill to attend Rahem Morris’ opening news conference, Arthur Blank finally stood in front of the media today to answer a slew of questions. Much of it centered on the organization’s new structure, with Rich McKay allegedly out of football operations; however, Falcons fans deserved to know what happened with Bill Belichick, and Blank’s story differs significantly from what NFL insiders have been telling the world since the Falcons decided to hire Morris.Almost every credible insider has concluded that Bill Belichick wanted complete control of the situation in Atlanta. He wasn’t just content with becoming the head coach; he wanted things exactly as they were in New England, which is why Arthur Blank chose to pivot. The Falcons owner was not comfortable giving Belichick complete control of the organization knowing that he will not be around for many more years due to his age.
