Latest signing Lyon defender Jake O’Brien

Premier League clubs are queuing up to sign Olympique Lyon centre-back Jake O’Brien, according to Foot Mercato.
Lyon are open to selling the 23-year-old despite an exceptional debut campaign at Groupama Stadium, and a return to the Premier League is on the cards.
According to the French news outlet, Brentford, Everton, and Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to go head-to-head in the race to sign O’Brien
but they have cooled their interest after signing Max Kilman from Wolves.
O’Brien only joined Lyon last summer from Crystal Palace in a deal worth around £840,000, but he has blossomed into one of the finest centre-backs in France and is now a hot commodity.
O’Brien was in fine form for Lyon last season, notching five goals and two assists in 32 appearances, including a goal in the Coupe de France final against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Ireland international kept seven clean sheets in the league, averaging 3.6 clearances and 4.7 ball recoveries per 90 minutes.
He was also impressive in 1v1 battles, winning 58% of his ground duels. His towering 6ft4 frame made him a force to be reckoned with in the air, registering a 64% success rate in aerial contests.
Lyon are poised to bank significant profit if O’Brien leaves the club this summer.
He is valued at £10 million on Transfermarkt, but the Ligue 1 giants will likely demand significantly more, considering he still has three years left on his contract.
