An Open Letter from WR Emeka Egbuka to Jalen Milroe Fans and the Entire Ohio State Community
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As a member of the Ohio State family and as someone who has had the privilege of competing alongside some of the finest athletes in college football, I wanted to take a moment to address an important and deeply personal situation.
As many of you know, recent events surrounding two of our fellow athletes—who have been suspended for the next two games—have created a great deal of buzz and concern throughout the community. These athletes, who are part of our beloved team, have always been dedicated and hardworking, but like anyone, they have made mistakes. It’s important to remember that behind every jersey, every helmet, and every headline, there are human beings striving to represent something bigger than themselves.
This is where I want to direct my words to Jalen Milroe’s supporters—those who follow him not just as a player but as a person. I know how much pride you have in his skills, his character, and the remarkable performances he’s delivered on the field. I’ve had the honor of watching him work tirelessly, just as we all have, to make the game we love something extraordinary. He, like so many of us, is fueled by an unyielding passion for the game of football and for this program. But let us not forget that every great player faces adversity, both on and off the field.
The recent suspension of two players has made many of us reflect on the nature of accountability and growth. Our coaches, our teammates, and our fans expect nothing short of excellence, but they also understand that nobody is perfect. These two players are no different. They have contributed greatly to Ohio State’s legacy, and although they will not be on the field for the next couple of games, their journey is far from over. They will learn, grow, and return to this team better than before.
To the Ohio State community, I want to remind you that we are a family. We build each other up in moments of triumph and stand by one another in moments of struggle. As we face challenges together, whether as players or as fans, it’s important to show support, empathy, and patience. No single player or game defines us as a program. We rise and fall together as one. That is the essence of what it means to wear the scarlet and gray.
And to those who may be feeling disappointed or confused by recent events, I ask that you remember the bigger picture. Ohio State has always been a place where individuals are pushed to be the best versions of themselves—on and off the field. When we make mistakes, it is an opportunity to learn and evolve. We’ve all been there, and it’s through those moments that we grow into better athletes, better teammates, and better people.
Finally, to Jalen Milroe’s fans—thank you for your unwavering support of a truly gifted athlete. I know it’s hard when the journey takes unexpected turns, but please trust that every single player on this team has the heart, the grit, and the dedication to make things right. We’re all working together to honor the Ohio State legacy, and we will continue to do so with pride and honor.
Let’s keep supporting each other, regardless of the challenges we face. We are Ohio State. Together, we are unstoppable.
