An Open Letter from Ken Roczen to Haiden Deegan and the Entire Motocross Community…
I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. As someone who has spent the better part of his life chasing greatness on two wheels, I felt it was important to take a moment to speak directly to Haiden, as well as to the community that has been my family throughout my career. This letter isn’t just for one person—it’s a message for all of us who share the passion and love for this sport that defines so much of who we are.
Haiden, I’ve watched you grow, both as a rider and as a person. Your rise has been nothing short of impressive. You’re not just a young talent; you’re someone who is shaping the future of motocross. You bring a fresh energy, a modern mindset, and a relentless drive that inspires many, including myself. It’s easy to see the effort and dedication you put into every lap, every race, and it’s something to be admired. But I also want to take a moment to remind you of the bigger picture.
Motocross is about so much more than just winning races. It’s about overcoming challenges, learning from mistakes, and constantly pushing the limits of what we thought was possible. While the victories are what get the attention, it’s the work we do in the trenches—the long hours in the gym, the sacrifices, the grind—that define us. That’s where true champions are built. Never lose sight of the process, and always stay humble in the face of success.
To the motocross community as a whole, we all have a responsibility to support one another, regardless of whether we’re at the top of the podium or on the journey to get there. It doesn’t matter if you’re a veteran, a rookie, a fan, or a family member—we all share the same love for the sport. We should celebrate our differences and learn from one another. Yes, we race against each other, but at the end of the day, we are all part of something much bigger than ourselves.
I’ve been fortunate to experience the highs and lows of this sport—injuries that seemed insurmountable, comebacks that seemed impossible, and triumphs that seemed unreachable. Through it all, I’ve learned that motocross isn’t just about the track. It’s about the people, the relationships, and the moments that happen when we aren’t racing. It’s the camaraderie between riders, the respect between teams, and the way fans show up, rain or shine, to support their heroes.
To Haiden, I want to say this: Keep pushing, keep striving, but never forget that the journey is just as important as the destination. Keep your heart in the sport, stay true to yourself, and remember that you have the power to shape the future, not just for yourself, but for all of us. You’re not alone on this journey—none of us are. We rise together.
To everyone in this community—thank you. For your passion, for your support, and for the spirit you bring to this incredible sport. Let’s continue to grow together, celebrate each other’s successes, and help one another through the inevitable struggles. The road to greatness is never easy, but it’s always worth it.
