NEW ALBUM: AC/DC Announces Explosive New Album Featuring Surprise Collaborations and Classic Sound
Legendary rock band AC/DC has electrified fans around the world with the announcement of their upcoming studio album, “Power Surge,” set to release globally on July 19, 2025. The album marks a thunderous return for the Australian rock icons, blending their signature hard rock style with a modern edge — and featuring a few unexpected collaborations that have already set the music world abuzz.
The band broke the news via a high-voltage teaser posted across their social media platforms, including a short video of lightning bolts illuminating the album cover: a sleek take on their classic logo, set against a backdrop of storm clouds and burning amplifiers. “This one’s for the fans who’ve stood by us through every chord, every riff, every tour,” frontman Brian Johnson said in the official announcement.
“Power Surge” will be AC/DC’s 18th studio album and the first since their 2020 release, “Power Up.” It promises 12 new tracks, recorded over the past year at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, a favorite spot of the band. Longtime producer Brendan O’Brien returned to helm the project, ensuring the sound stayed true to AC/DC’s raw, no-frills rock-and-roll ethos.
One of the biggest surprises in the announcement was the confirmation of three high-profile guest appearances: Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Slash (Guns N’ Roses), and Joan Jett. Grohl joins the band for the blistering track “Burn the Stage,” laying down drums and vocals in a high-energy tribute to rock’s golden era. Slash brings his signature solos to “Midnight Voltage,” a bluesy, riff-heavy anthem. Meanwhile, Joan Jett duets with Johnson on “Rebel Static,” a track already being hailed as a rebellious new classic.
Guitarist Angus Young, the last remaining original member, expressed his excitement about the album. “We’re not slowing down. We’ve got fire in our bellies and riffs in our bones,” he said in a recent interview. “Working with these amazing artists only pushed us harder. The chemistry was instant.”
The band also confirmed plans for a global tour following the album release, beginning in August 2025 in Europe, followed by dates across North America, South America, and Asia. This tour will mark the return of bassist Cliff Williams, who had previously retired but rejoined the lineup for the recording sessions.
Fans can expect the first single, “Shock Therapy,” to drop on May 3, along with an electrifying music video directed by Jonas Åkerlund. Early industry insiders who’ve heard previews describe the track as “vintage AC/DC with a fresh jolt.”
With “Power Surge,” AC/DC proves that age is just a number and that rock and roll is still alive, loud, and louder than ever. Pre-orders for the album, including limited edition vinyl and collector’s bundles, go live this Friday.
Rock fans, brace yourselves — the thunder from Down Under is back.
