SO SHOCKING: pickleball best player of all time Ben Jones announced his retirement few minutes ago, according to his report it says……more details

In a stunning development that has rocked the pickleball world, Ben Jones—widely regarded as the greatest player the sport has ever seen—has officially announced his retirement from professional play. The news broke just moments ago through an emotional statement released by Jones himself, leaving fans, fellow players, and the pickleball community in complete disbelief.

“This sport has given me everything,” Jones wrote in his announcement. “But after much reflection and conversations with my family and team, I’ve decided that it’s time to step away. It’s the hardest decision of my life—but it’s the right one.”

Jones, 32, has been the face of professional pickleball for over a decade. His unmatched skill, consistency, and charisma helped transform pickleball from a growing pastime into a nationally televised competitive sport. With over 40 major titles, including multiple US Open and National Championship victories, Jones was not only dominant on the court—he was an ambassador off of it. His sudden retirement marks the end of an era and leaves behind a legacy few athletes in any sport can match.

    The Rise of a Legend

Ben Jones began playing pickleball as a teenager in San Diego, California, introduced to the game by his grandfather. What started as a backyard hobby quickly evolved into a competitive obsession. By his early twenties, Jones was already defeating top-ranked players, bringing a new level of athleticism and strategy to the game.

He turned pro in 2015 and instantly made waves by winning the USA Pickleball Nationals that same year. Over the next several seasons, Jones would go on an unprecedented run, winning multiple Triple Crowns—sweeping gold medals in men’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles in the same tournaments. His rivalry with fellow greats like Tyson McGuffin and Zane Navratil elevated the sport’s visibility and drew thousands of new fans.

Jones was also instrumental in pushing for higher prize money, increased media coverage, and the formation of professional pickleball leagues. Many credit him for helping bring the sport into the mainstream, especially after ESPN and CBS Sports began airing matches regularly.

    Why Now?

In his retirement statement, Jones cited a combination of physical toll and personal priorities as key reasons behind his decision.

“I’ve battled through injuries, surgeries, and countless hours of rehab,” he said. “I always told myself I’d walk away on my own terms, while still at the top. That time is now. I want to be present for my family, explore new ventures, and give back to the sport in a different way.”

Sources close to Jones say the decision wasn’t sudden internally, despite how it may appear to the public. Over the past year, he’s dealt with nagging shoulder and knee issues, and while he continued to win titles, his training regimen had become increasingly grueling. His final tournament appearance, at the 2025 National Championships in Florida, saw him win gold in men’s doubles—a fitting end to a storied career.

    Reaction from the Pickleball World

Social media exploded within minutes of Jones’ announcement. Tributes poured in from fellow athletes, fans, sponsors, and pickleball organizations.

“Ben Jones changed the game forever,” wrote fellow pro Anna Leigh Waters. “He raised the standard for all of us and made us believe pickleball could be a global sport. Thank you, Ben.”

USA Pickleball released a formal statement calling Jones “a pioneer, a champion, and an icon” and announcing plans to honor him at the next national event.

Even beyond pickleball, prominent figures in tennis and other racket sports expressed admiration for Jones’ influence. His name has become synonymous with the sport itself—used in promotional campaigns, sponsorship deals, and youth development programs.

    What’s Next for Ben Jones?

While he may be stepping off the court competitively, Jones made it clear he’s not disappearing from the sport he loves. He hinted at plans to launch a coaching academy, expand his youth foundation, and possibly move into broadcasting.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “I’ll still be around—just not chasing balls down on the court. I want to help the next generation go even further.”

There are also rumors of a memoir and a possible Netflix documentary chronicling his life and career. With his natural charisma and compelling story, Jones seems poised for a successful post-playing chapter.

    A Legacy Cemented

Ben Jones leaves professional pickleball not only as its most decorated player but as its greatest ambassador. His impact will be felt for generations—both in the record books and in the lives of those he inspired. Though his departure marks a monumental change for the sport, it also opens the door for others to rise and carry the torch.
