Ozzy Osbourne Says He’d “Be Honoured” to Collaborate with Paul McCartney..
Ozzy Osbourne recently revealed he’d be “honoured” to collaborate with Paul McCartney during a candid discussion on his SiriusXM show Ozzy Speaks. When asked by co-host Billy Morrison about potential duet partners, the legendary rocker didn’t hesitate — his top choice was McCartney. Yet, he immediately tempered his aspiration with a dose of self-deprecation: “I would be honoured but I couldn’t…” .
Ozzy’s fandom of The Beatles isn’t new. He’s often described hearing their music as a life-changing moment — a revelation that inspired his own musical journey. On The Osbournes podcast, he called meeting McCartney “like meeting Jesus Christ,” noting how down-to-earth McCartney was and fondly recalling a congratulatory message he sent Ozzy after he won a Grammy (nme.com). In a studio encounter years ago, Ozzy even tried to persuade McCartney to play bass on one of his tracks. McCartney respectfully declined, saying he “couldn’t improve on the bass‑line that was there.” Undeterred, Ozzy joked he’d have been thrilled if McCartney even added a drop of inspiration — “you could piss on the record and I’d make it my life” .
Despite the chemistry, a joint project hasn’t materialized. Ozzy’s career, decades-long and filled with personal and health challenges — including Parkinson’s disease and recovery from critical surgery — has slowed down. Yet, the idea of working with McCartney remains alive. With Black Sabbath gearing up for their final performance on July 5 in Birmingham — a hometown farewell billed as “Back to the Beginning” — Ozzy is focusing on delivering a deeply personal goodbye. Still, he’s hopeful that a collaboration might remain possible, even as he acknowledges its challenges .
Right now, McCartney seems to be a dream rather than a plan — but for Ozzy, who has always worn his fandom on his sleeve, that hope is enough.
