The video that convinced Led Zeppelin to team up with Jack Black: “The movie’s kickass”…

Jack Black’s over-the-top, emotional video plea is what finally convinced Led Zeppelin to allow “Immigrant Song” in School of Rock. The legendary band had a strict policy of refusing sync requests—director Richard Linklater even failed to license their music for Dazed and Confused. But for School of Rock, Linklater asked Black to record a behind-the-scenes video begging for permission, using a thousand extras as his backing choir .

In the video, Black passionately addresses “Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, the Gods of rock,” pleading: “We need your song… This movie will crumble into smithereens… the movie’s kickass, but dude, your song would be a hard‑rocking cherry on the top of the mountain!”  The crowd chants “Led Zeppelin, please bless us with your love!” in the background .
