Evan Brown, a former Detroit Lions offensive lineman, is moving on to his second new NFC West team in as many seasons. According to NFL Network, Brown has agreed to a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals worth $2.35 million.
Brown played 24 games over two seasons with the Lions. He later joined the Seattle Seahawks, where he started 16 games as center this season. Brown has demonstrated his ability to play center and guard in the trenches, so it’s not surprise that the 27-year-old has landed a nice contract.
During his one season in Seattle, the versatile lineman played 917 snaps at center and 38 as a left guard. Brown will most likely fight with Hjalte Froholdt for the center position, although both offer versatility and starter-level talent at guard.
The Lions were also looking for another offensive guard. However, they found an ideal new addition to the starting lineup by signing Pro Bowl offensive guard Kevin Zeitler to a one-year contract.
The 34-year-old earned the Pro Bowl last season after starting 15 games for the Baltimore Ravens. Zeitler is one of the top interior pass blockers in the NFL, and he has played at least 15 games per season since 2015. Over the last 12 seasons, Zeitler has spent the majority of his time at right guard, so keep an eye out for Graham Glasgow to go to the left side.
It’s a move that cements Detroit’s offensive line as one of the league’s best. However, with Zeitler entering Year 13 and his Age 34 season, picking an offensive lineman in the April draft remains an option.
