The details for the 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge were released on Wednesday, as the UNC women’s basketball program’s matchup features some very familiar faces on the opposing side.
North Carolina will host Kentucky on December 5 at Carmichael Arena, as game time has yet to be determined.
When the battle of the blues occurs in Chapel Hill, it will feature the return of Teonni Key, who transferred to Kentucky during the offseason after spending the last three seasons in Chapel Hill. Additionally, Kenny Brooks, the former Virginia Tech coach, will be in the midst of his first season at the helm at Kentucky, while star guard Georgia Amorre elected to follow her head coach to Lexington.
This will be a great non-conference battle for the somewhat new-look Tar Heels, as Brooks and the Wildcats have no desire to be a rebuilding team. Brooks has loaded up the roster with a mix of transfers (from Virginia Tech and other schools, such as North Carolina) and hopes to bring the success he built in Blacksburg with him to his new gig.
We’re sure to find out some more information regarding the UNC women’s basketball program’s 2024-2025 schedule over the next few weeks, as it will be interesting to see who else is part of the non-conference slate of games. This challenge will once again be a quality opponent for North Carolina as they hope the non-conference schedule can help prepare them for the tough road ahead in conference action.
