An Open Letter from David and Madison to MAFS Fans
First and foremost, we want to thank each and every one of you who has supported us through our journey on Married at First Sight. We know that reality TV isn’t always an easy thing to watch, especially when it comes to relationships that are being put under a microscope for the world to see. Your messages of encouragement, kind words, and even constructive criticism have meant the world to us. It’s been a rollercoaster, but we’re incredibly grateful for all the love we’ve received along the way.
As many of you know, when we first met on the show, we were two strangers walking down the aisle to marry each other. To be honest, we didn’t know what to expect. It was overwhelming, nerve-wracking, and emotional. We were both stepping into the unknown, with only the hope that the experts had matched us for a reason. But nothing could have prepared us for the ups and downs that followed.
When the cameras were rolling, it felt like we were constantly on display, trying to navigate a relationship that was unfamiliar, new, and filled with the pressure of having millions of eyes on us. For some, this kind of experience might feel like an obstacle, but we quickly realized it was an opportunity. It was an opportunity to learn more about ourselves, to grow as individuals, and most importantly, to see if we could build something real together.
But the thing about reality TV is that you never really know what’s happening behind the scenes. What people saw on the screen was just a fraction of the story. We faced challenges that weren’t shown, and we had moments of deep reflection that the cameras didn’t capture. Every couple has their struggles, and we are no different. The truth is, our relationship has been full of learning curves, moments of doubt, and breakthroughs, but we’ve come out stronger for it.
As the show aired, we found ourselves receiving mixed reactions from fans. Some of you were rooting for us from the beginning, believing in our connection, while others were skeptical, questioning whether we were truly compatible. And that’s okay—we understand. No one could truly understand the complexity of our journey except for us. We’ve had to constantly remind ourselves that while the cameras capture the external moments, they don’t always capture the inner workings of a relationship. There were tears, laughter, deep conversations, and even moments where we questioned whether we were making the right choice. But through it all, we remained committed to one another.
We’re writing this letter not just to thank you, but also to clear up some misconceptions. As much as we appreciate the support, we’ve also encountered a fair share of judgment. We’ve seen comments online suggesting that our relationship was “just for the cameras,” or that we “didn’t really want to make it work.” We want to set the record straight: our relationship is real. What you saw on TV was an authentic representation of two people trying to figure it out in a very intense environment. There’s no script, no second take. There were moments when we got it wrong, and moments when we nailed it. But through it all, we’ve been genuinely committed to making it work.
Moving forward, we want to take this time to ask for your understanding and support. The decision to stay together after the show wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t something we took lightly. We’re continuing to build our relationship one day at a time, learning more about each other, and doing everything we can to make it last. We don’t have all the answers, but we do know this—we’re in this together, and we’re not giving up without putting in the effort.
For those who are rooting for us, thank you. Your positivity keeps us motivated. For those who have doubted us, we hear you, and we appreciate your honesty. We just ask that you allow us the space to grow and evolve, both individually and as a couple.
Finally, we want to remind everyone that love is messy, complicated, and doesn’t always fit into a neat little box. Our journey isn’t over, and we’re excited for what the future holds. Thank you for being part of it.
