American Idol, the long-running singing competition on ABC, has finalized its Top 24 contenders for the 2025 season (Season 23 overall), with judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan making the tough final cuts.

The Selection Process

This year’s selection unfolded in the famed Showstopper round, held live at the Barker Hangar on January 27, 2025, before airing on April 7, 2025. During this round, the judges trimmed the field down to 46 hopefuls, from which four advanced directly into the Top 24. The following night, the remaining contestants took to the stage in a “Head to Head” showdown to determine who else would make the Top 24. Jelly Roll, serving as Artist in Residence, played a key role mentoring the contestants through Hollywood Week.
