Red Hot Chili Peppers Officially Unveil Set List for 2025 Farewell Tour Celebrating 35 Years of Funk, Fire, and Friendship

In a move that has electrified the rock world, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have officially unveiled the full set list for their highly anticipated 2025 global farewell tour. Dubbed both a celebration of their remarkable 35-year journey and a swan song for one of the most influential bands of their generation, the trek promises fans a musical rollercoaster that bridges the past, present, and future of a group that redefined what funk, punk, and rock could sound like together.

The announcement came during a live-streamed event that drew hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide, with Flea, Anthony Kiedis, John Frusciante, and Chad Smith gathered in a Los Angeles rehearsal studio. True to form, the band delivered the news in their signature playful style—banter, bass riffs, and bursts of improvisation—before unveiling the full 25-song set list that will anchor the 2025 tour.

A Farewell Tour Built on Nostalgia and Legacy

The band confirmed what many had speculated for months: this tour will mark their final global run as a unit. While each member hinted that solo projects, collaborations, and side ventures will continue, the Chili Peppers collectively decided that 35 years of relentless touring and recording deserved a definitive closing chapter.

“This isn’t a goodbye to music,” said frontman Anthony Kiedis during the announcement. “It’s a goodbye to this cycle we’ve been on since we were kids running barefoot around Hollywood with guitars and big dreams. We wanted to end it on our terms—with fire, with funk, and with the people who made it possible: our fans.”

The 2025 farewell tour will span more than 40 cities across North America, Europe, South America, Asia, and Australia, with multiple nights already planned at iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden, Wembley Stadium, and the Sydney Opera House forecourt.

The Set List: A Carefully Crafted Journey

The unveiled set list reads like a living history of the band’s career, balancing early underground gems with radio-dominating anthems and newer tracks from their recent albums Unlimited Love (2022) and Return of the Dream Canteen (2022).

The 25-song lineup opens with “Can’t Stop”, an explosive modern classic, and closes with the timeless “Give It Away”, the band’s ultimate crowd-participation anthem. Along the way, fans will hear the soulful “Under the Bridge”, the explosive “Suck My Kiss”, and the psychedelic groove of “Californication”—songs that defined entire eras of rock radio.

Perhaps most exciting is the inclusion of rarely performed deep cuts such as “Sir Psycho Sexy” and “Dosed”, choices that reflect the band’s commitment to giving longtime fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Flea called the set list “a love letter to every chapter of our story,” explaining that the band worked closely with their crew and fan club representatives to ensure the balance of hits, surprises, and emotional moments.

    A Production Unlike Any Other

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are renowned for their wild live energy, but the 2025 tour is set to push the boundaries even further. Tour director Mark “Smitty” Smith revealed that the production will feature a multi-layered stage design inspired by California sunsets, with massive LED backdrops, immersive soundscapes, and kinetic lighting displays.

But in true Chili Peppers fashion, the focus will remain on the raw interplay between the four musicians. “Technology is cool,” said drummer Chad Smith, “but what people want to see is Flea bouncing across the stage, John losing himself in a solo, and Anthony giving everything he has to every lyric. That’s what we’re bringing.”

Fans React: Emotional Farewell for a Generation

Within minutes of the announcement, social media exploded with tributes, excitement, and bittersweet reflections from fans around the world. Hashtags like #RHCPFarewell and #Peppers35 trended globally, with fans sharing memories of first concerts, life-changing albums, and tattoos inspired by the band’s lyrics.

“This is the soundtrack of my life coming to an end,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter). “From high school road trips blasting Blood Sugar Sex Magik to now taking my kids to see them live—it’s the end of an era.”

Even fellow musicians chimed in, with Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine posting messages of admiration and thanks to the Chili Peppers for paving the way for generations of genre-defying bands.

The Band’s Reflection on 35 Years

For the Chili Peppers themselves, the tour is not just about saying goodbye but about honoring the brotherhood that sustained them through triumphs, tragedies, and reinventions.

John Frusciante, whose on-again, off-again relationship with the band has been one of rock’s most dramatic narratives, was reflective. “I came back because I realized the music we make together has its own soul,” he said. “This tour is us putting that soul into the world one last time.”

Flea, ever the heart-on-his-sleeve bassist, described the farewell as “like planting a seed—our music will keep growing in the lives of people long after we’re gone.”

    What Comes Next?

Though this tour signals the end of the Chili Peppers as a touring act, the members hinted at future creative endeavors. Kiedis teased a memoir expansion, Flea has ongoing commitments in film and education, Smith is expected to continue producing and collaborating, and Frusciante hinted at solo experimental projects.

Still, the band emphasized that this farewell tour will be the last chance to see the four of them together in full force on stage.

    A Closing Gift to Fans

As Anthony Kiedis summed up: “For 35 years, we’ve been lucky enough to share our hearts, our rhythms, and our weirdness with the world. This tour is our gift back. Come sing with us one more time.”

With ticket sales set to open next month, and anticipation already reaching fever pitch, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2025 farewell tour is shaping up to be one of the most emotional and celebrated live events of the decade—a last dance with the kings of California funk-rock.
