The four-time Pro Bowler’s possible destination is the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are among the favorites to land Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. As both teams try to figure out their future at the QB position, a move from Minnesota to Pittsburgh could be in the works for the Pro Bowler.
MinnesotaBets.com lists the Steelers among the top seven teams that could land the four-time Pro Bowler this offseason. Trailing the Vikings (+150), Atlanta Falcons (+600), Denver Broncos (+700), Las Vegas Raiders (+900) and New England Patriots (+900), Pittsburgh has the sixth-best odds at +1500.
Cousins will hit the free agency market this offseason, being named the “crown jewel” of the class by the 33rd Team. His estimated market value, according to Spotrac, is three years, $118,145,778. The contract would carry a yearly salary of $39,381,926.
The Steelers are looking for competition this offseason as they bring in someone to work against Kenny Pickett in a quarterback battle. The team hopes the competition is Mason Rudolph but knows they could lose the veteran in free agency.
Cousins wouldn’t join the Steelers expecting to compete for the starting job, but the move would upgrade their current options.
Cousins is coming off a torn achilles but told Bleacher Report his plan is to be ready by the start of the 2024 season without any limitations.
“That’s the plan,” Cousins said. “So far, we’re two-and-a-half months in, and everything is on pace. I’m looking forward to just continuing to take steps toward next season. My goal is next season I’m playing and can potentially go back to Lambeau Field where I tore it and I feel so good that I can’t even remember that I tore it. That’s the goal.”
