The Detroit Red Wings’ game against the Edmonton Oilers last night took a terrible turn in the third period. The Red Wings pulled off an incredible comeback to tie the game at three goals apiece, but they were outclassed by the Oilers, who led by star player Connor McDavid with six assists as they scored five goals in the last period to win 8–4. It was an unsatisfactory end to a game for coach Derek Lalonde, whose team had shown promise in the first forty minutes.

Lalonde was particularly disappointed because he had witnessed a lot of improvement from his squad before the pivotal last period against the powerful offensive lineup of the Oilers.

“He injured himself before (Draisaitl) scored, so he was unable to move laterally on the goal,” Lalonde stated. It is regrettable for him, particularly since he has put in a lot of effort and battled to come back to this position. There will be another setback.

The Red Wings may look to the trade market to reinforce their goalie duo of Lyon and James Reimer if Husso is sidelined for a lengthy amount of time once more. Less than a month from now, on March 8, the trade deadline approaches, giving Detroit a little window of time to consider possible additions.
