Bulldog Nation experienced a devastating blow on February 8th. Michael Brochstein, A.K.A. “Senator Blutarsky,” the author and voice of “Get The Picture” – one of the longest running and maybe greatest Georgia (and, honestly, everything pertinent to college football) blogs ever to waft through the Ether – died after suffering an illness. I don’t know why he died, but it doesn’t really matter right now. He will be remembered for the way he lived and the contributions he made on a daily basis. There is a big void in the heart of Dawg Nation today.Michael, also known as “The Senator” or “Bluto” by many, routinely produced some of the best content on the web, and I mean anywhere. For many of you, he was one of, if not THE, first stops when browsing the internet in the morning. I usually arrive at work before 7 a.m., and the first hour or two is the most productive of my workday. No distractions. Around 8 p.m., I allowed myself the nice distraction of reading his most recent discord on anything UGA-related, his potshots at Florida or Auburn, or anything/anyone that needed potshotting. His copious contributions were intelligent but never pretentious, and always of the greatest caliber. He continually contributed for everyone’s benefit.I’d never met Michael, yet I felt like I knew him. On occasion, he even linked to some of my rubbish on his blog, which made me proud. He did not have to do that, but I appreciate it, and I shall mourn him like a buddy I never knew. It’s a terribly sad day today. RIP, Senator Blutarsky. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us over the past 17 years.
