Atlanta went into the 2023 season needing to address the need at shortstop after the departure of Dansby Swanson. Many fans believed that this would have been Vaughn Grissom‘s opportunity to secure the starting job. However, the Braves’ front office went in a different direction. GM Alex Anthopoulos had concerns about Grissom’s defense and decided to go with infielder Orlando Arcia as the Opening Day starter. Arcia has held down the shortstop job since then and even signed a three-year, $7.3 million extension. However, since the All-Star break last season, Arcia has statistically been one of the worst hitters in all of baseball. The…

The Atlanta Braves came into this season with sky-high expectations. After winning the National League East for the last six seasons and winning over 100 games in two out of the last three years, the Braves have seen their season thus far continue to spiral. However, they’re ten games out of first place behind the Philadelphia Phillies, who currently have the best record in MLB. After a 4-0 shutout loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, the Braves offense is hitting a new low…

One of the most impressive aspects of some professional baseball players is their ability to memorize unique, elaborate handshakes with their entire roster, as even one secret handshake is difficult enough to master, let alone 25 or more simultaneously. After centuries of secret handshakes, it’s also not easy to cook up a unique one these days, but Atlanta Braves star first baseman Matt Olson and teammate Orlando Arcia cooked up a simple, effective, and slightly violent secret handshake that went viral recently. WSB TV’s Alison Mastrangelo shared a clip of Olson and Arcia’s handshake that showed the two doing a…

The Braves offense is amid a shockingly abysmal stretch since the end of April in which they’ve been among the worst lineups in baseball. If it weren’t for Marcell Ozuna, an argument could be made that this team might not even be .500, let alone nine games over. However, there are signs of improvement; most notably, Matt Olson‘s form over the last few weeks. The Braves first baseman, who set a franchise record for home runs in a season last year with 54, began the season like much of the Atlanta offense, mired in a nasty slump. From April 9th to May…
