Breaking : Joe Gomez’s decision to leave Liverpool is up to him after the Anthony Gordon transfer package completed a £45 million deal.

After his transfer to Newcastle United fell through, Joe Gomez will have to make a choice regarding his future at Liverpool this summer. Interest in the England international is currently growing. Gomez’s £45 million contract with the Reds was in principle agreed upon as part of a package that included Anthony Gordon, another England international, moving to Anfield for £75 million.

However, the Magpies ultimately ditched the transfer as they discovered other avenues to meet the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules ahead of the June 30 deadline.

Gomez, who was included in England’s squad for the European Championships and is presently on vacation, is said to be fully aware of the circumstances. Next week, he will return to the AXA Training Center to begin preseason training with new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.

Newcastle hasn’t made any more moves to acquire the center back, but Gomez has since drawn a lot of attention from other teams, with Liverpool having not yet received an official proposal.

The Reds are still quite interested in Newcastle winger Gordon, especially as Mohamed Salah is about to reach the last year of his current contract and Luis Diaz’s long-term future is in doubt. But now that the Magpies no longer have to rush to cash in on the player, his asking price is probably going to go up.

Gomez, who joined Liverpool nine years ago, is the team’s longest-serving current player. Despite starting just four games in his customary center-back role last season, Gomez remained one of the Reds’ most reliable players.
