Breaking news: San Diego Padres two players in tears as the head coach confirmed their suspension of one week due to… see more

San Diego Padres’ stars, Eric Hosmer and Wil Myers, were overcome with emotion as they received the news that they would be suspended for one week by their head coach, Bob Melvin. The suspension comes as a result of a heated argument between the two players and Melvin over a crucial play in last night’s game against the Colorado Rockies.

According to eyewitnesses, the altercation occurred in the dugout during the top of the 8th inning, when Hosmer and Myers disagreed with Melvin’s decision to pinch-hit for rookie sensation, Jorge Alfaro. The tension escalated quickly, with both players yelling at Melvin and eventually storming out of the dugout in disgust.

“I’m still trying to process everything that happened,” Hosmer said, visibly shaken. “I love this team and I love playing for Coach Melvin, but sometimes you just have to stand up for what you believe in. We’re all trying to do what’s best for the team, but it seems like we’re not on the same page right now.”

Myers echoed Hosmer’s sentiments, stating that he felt “disrespected” by Melvin’s decision to bench him. “I’ve worked hard all season to get to this point, and to have Coach decide to take me out of the game like that… it’s tough to swallow,” Myers said, fighting back tears.

Melvin acknowledged that the situation was difficult, but stressed that he made the decision based on what he believed was best for the team. “As a coach, it’s my job to make tough decisions, even when they’re unpopular,” Melvin said. “I know Eric and Wil are both great players, but sometimes you have to put the team first.”

The suspension is a significant blow to the Padres, who are currently in a tight race for a wild card spot in the National League. With just 10 games remaining in the regular season, every game counts, and losing two key players for a week could be devastating.

Fans of the Padres took to social media to express their disappointment and frustration with the news. “This is ridiculous,” tweeted @PadresFan4Life. “Can’t we just get along? We need these guys on the field!”

Others were more supportive of Melvin’s decision. “Sometimes tough love is necessary,” wrote @BaseballPundit. “Hosmer and Myers need to learn how to respect their coach and trust his decisions.”

The San Diego Padres are set to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at Petco Park, with left-hander Blake Snell expected to start for the home team. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:10 PM PST and can be watched on FS1.
