Finally Orlando Pirates want Mamelodi Sundowns star with 7 league titles

Orlando Pirates have a prime opportunity to sign former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Gaston Sirino, now a free agent. Sirino, who collected an impressive array of trophies at Chloorkop, including seven DStv Premiership titles, is available to the Soweto giants.

With Sirino available on a free transfer, Orlando Pirates have a significant chance to add him to their squad. According to Soccer Laduma, “overall, Sirino lifted 12 trophies at Chloorkop, including seven Premiership titles and will hope for success on South African shores after being reported to both Soweto Giants.” The Bucs face competition from Kaizer Chiefs, who are also pursuing Gaston Sirino.

The decision now hinges on which Soweto giant can present the better offer and fit Sirino into their plans for the 2024/2025 PSL season. Orlando Pirates’ head coach Jose Riveiro and management will need to evaluate Sirino’s potential impact, while Kaizer Chiefs will rely on coach Nabi to determine his suitability.

The Soweto duo of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have received crucial advice on Sirino following his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns in early July. Despite winning six league titles with Sundowns, Sirino’s age has become a concern for potential clubs.

Former Bafana Bafana star Mngomeni shared his perspective in an interview with Kick Off, saying. “A player who joins Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates should be someone who knows his story. The players Chiefs are signing these days go there unprepared. They become too excited and lose concentration, while some are destroyed by nerves.” He emphasised, “they need to sign a player who is dedicated, somebody who is going to fight for the team using his talent.”

Mngomeni criticised the tendency to overlook players over 30, stating. “Footballers reach their prime at 30; they have an impact on and off the field at that age. Now that’s a mature player.” He noted his own experience, saying. “I was experienced enough, and that’s why I could easily handle the pressure.”
